pool 3 european cup 12-12-16

SATURDAY

POOL 3

SARACENS 50-3 SALE

MAITLAND DOUBLE GIVES SARACENS BONUS POINT

Marcelo Bosch and Sean Maitland crossed as the hosts moved into a 23-point lead at the interval before scores from Jamie George and Chris Wyles secured the try bonus point.
Sale had three players sent to the sin bin as Maitland completed his double and Richard Barrington touched down.
Victory makes it three wins from three for Saracens as they top Pool Three.
The hosts also had three tries ruled out by the TMO as Sale were condemned to a third straight defeat in this season's competition.

Saracens are showing themselves to be a force in this competition and with results like this have to be seen as one of the favourites for the whole competition. Saracens have shown that when the results are needed they can get them quite easily.

SUNDAY

TOULON 31-20 SCARLETS

GUIRADO TRY SHOWS WHY FRENCH CANT BE OUTCLASSED

The hosts smashed their way to an 11-point interval lead with tries by Mamuka Gorgodze, Leigh Halfpenny and Romain Taofifenua.
Toulon survived two TMO decisions early in the second half before Guilhem Guirado secured the bonus point.
Ken Owens and John Barclay scored for Scarlets with Wales international Halfpenny claiming 16 points.

Toulon have shown in this match why they are considered the best team in the world and whether or not they can get better will depend on whether or not they have a chance of being European Champions. It feels like at the moment that they don’t really care about this competition and this needs to chance
