LEINSTER 57-MONPELLIER 3
CRONIN SETS LEINSTER UP TO VICTORY
Impressive Leinster powered to a huge win over Montpellier
to become the first team to qualify for the last eight of the European
Champions Cup.
Second-row Jack Conan scored a hat-trick of tries for the
dominant hosts.
Full-back Ica Nacewa, winger Adam Byrne, scrum-half Luke
McGrath, replacement prop Cian Healy and centre Garry Ringrose also touched
down.
Montpellier had fly-half Frans Steyn red-carded for a high
challenge on Johnny Sexton when the score was 14-3.
Leinster have shown in this match that they are going to be
one of the big teams in this competition and I think that they have to be seen
as one of the favorites. Leinster are showing that they can destroy a good
team but this match was more about the Montpellier player being sent off than anything
else
NORTHAMPTON 28-21 CASTRE
HARRISON GIVES SAINTS A CHANCE
Saints were already out of contention, while the visitors
needed two wins from their final two games to keep alive their chance of progressing.
Castres fought back from 13 points down to level in the
second half.
But Tom Wood's try, adding to scores from Teimana Harrison
and Stephen Myler, handed Northampton the win.
This win gives Northampton a half chance of reaching the quarter final after beating Castre and I don’t
really think this has been the best season for them but I would wonder whether
or not they should have put up a strong side as they kno9w that their chances
of reaching the quarter finals are seriously slim
