09-11-15 RUGBY PRO 12

PRO 12

SUNDAY

DRAGONS 12-19 ULSTER

MARCIAL TRY GIVES ULSTER TOP 4 HOPE

Ulster battled back for a hard-fought Pro12 win over Newport Gwent Dragons having trailed by nine points.

Ulster scrum-half Paul Marshall went over from close range after the break for the game's only try, while Paddy Jackson kicked 14 points.

Dragons' Dorian Jones sent three penalties over and Jason Tovey also successfully kicked one for the hosts

Ulster are normally the first team I look for and are pleased that they are doing well. I think that they could reach the play offs this season but they have got ok form

SATURDAY

OSPREYS 36-3 ZEBRE

WALKER DOUBLE GIVES OSPEYS HOPE

Ospreys eased to only their second win of the season, running in six tries to move above Zebre in the Pro12 table.

Jonathan Spratt, Josh Matavesi and Eli Walker crossed for first-half scores, with Justin Tipuric, Walker again and Sam Parry adding further touchdowns.

Dan Biggar kicked two conversions from six shots at goal and Sam Davies one.

The result was a welcome fillip for the Ospreys as they prepare to kick off their European Champions Cup campaign against Exeter Chiefs next weekend.

BLUES 30-35 GLASGOW

GRANT AND GREY GIVE GLASGOW IMPORTANT WIN

Blues led 17-15 at the break through Gavin Evans' try and Rhys Patchell's kicking.

Leone Nakarawa, Taqele Naiyaravoro, Ryan Grant and Jonny Gray went over for the visitors.

But Glasgow's indiscipline helped Patchell keep Blues in touch while they also earned a late penalty try.

A strong wind played a significant role in the game's pattern as Blues pinned Glasgow back in the opening period and the visitors benefitted after the break

In my opinion Ospreys should be a lot higher in the table than they are I feel that the ospreys are better than this but early form means little

EDINBURGH 14-16 MUNSTER
KEATLEY PENALTY WINS GAME FOR MUNSTER

A late Ian Keatley penalty consigned Edinburgh to a third straight Pro12 defeat at home to Munster.

Alan Solomons' side had scored a wonderful try through centre Will Helu after Munster had started strongly with a John Ryan score.

Sam Hidalgo-Clyne kicked three penalties with a host of returning World Cup internationals on both teams.

But the scrum-half saw his dramatic drop-goal attempt charged down three minutes into overtime.

With just three minutes gone, Ryan muscled between Edinburgh's centres to ground the ball against the base of the post, Keatley converting.

Hidalgo-Clyne replied with a penalty and Munster's Gerhard van den Heever was sin-binned for colliding with the airborne Tom Brown, but Edinburgh - supreme in the scrummage and wayward come the lineout - failed to capitalise significantly on the winger's absence.

Munster are doing especially well in this seasons pro 12 without there main stars I hope that they can bring this form into the Heineken cup next week as last season was such a disappointment

FRIDAY

CONNACHT 33-19 TREVISO

MC CARTNEY HERO FOR CONNACHT AS THEY GO TOP

Second-half tries from returning Ireland centre Robbie Henshaw, Tom McCartney and Matt Healy, and 18 points from the boot of Craig Ronaldson gave the Westerners a well-deserved four points.

Treviso's Kiwi full-back Jayden Hayward notched the only try of the first half, leaving the Italians only 9-5 behind, with Connacht centre Craig Ronaldson landing three of his four penalty attempts.

Converted scores from the returning Henshaw and replacement hooker McCartney, sandwiching Hayward's second try, kept the westerners on course before Ronaldson added another penalty and converted Matt Healy's 75th-minute score

Connacht are fighting above their weight this season and it does make you ask the question can they keep this form up as they are doing very well this season and to me they could make a better fist of qualifying for Europe than they did last season

LEINSTER 19-15 SCARLETS

ROSS TRY AND MADAGAN PEN GIVE LEINSTER WIN

Scarlets had their 100% Pro12 record ended by Leinster at the RDS in Dublin.

Hadleigh Parkes and Gareth Owen went over for the Welsh side in the first half and Scarlets were good value for their 15-9 lead at half-time.

But three Ian Madigan penalties kept Leinster within touching distance and they dominated the second half.

Mike Ross' close-range try and Madigan's conversion soon after the restart put Leinster into the lead and another Madigan penalty capped the win.

Last season in the pro 12 was definitely a disappointment for Leinster but in Europe they did well. I am not that sure how they will preform this season but I am sure a pro 12 semi final must be a minimum target
